The Overview

Finally a break in the pattern of this spring, spurred by a forced session despite poor buoy readings that turned out to be a lot of fun. That set off a fairly consistent month of surfing on early-season southern-hemi swells, all sessions logged down at Leo Carrillo.

A number of highlights this month, including my first session on a new UV-cured Channel Islands 6'6" and the big south at the end of the month. Lowlights: Had a bizarre experience getting hooked on the reef by my leash that I managed to escape from without being harmed, but then I dinged my board in the shower the very next day.

Perfect ratings this month, with 6 out of 6 reports logging good surf. Naturally I rode just my shortboard, the longboard staying dry! Average wave height was around head high on the sets -- at Leo that's mainly what I surf so that's mainly what gets reported.
