November Overview 2000 Overview |
Santa Barbara Area Surf Report |
||
| Date/Time: | Tuesday, November 28th, 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm | ||
| Location: | Rincon | ||
| Weather: | Shifting marine layer staying just offshore, occasional breezes coming off it when it got close. | ||
| Conditions: | Yesterday I reported "perfect glass," thinking "this is as good as it gets," but today was even cleaner, so: Sublime, unreal, squeaky-clean spit-and-polish glassy low tide conditions. | ||
| Swell: | Fading NW swell, 9 ft at 14 s from 300+ degrees on the outer buoys, 4 ft at 14 s in the channel. | ||
| Surf: | Shoulder to head high. | ||
| Comments: |
The fog patrol check at "dawn" showed some shoulder high
waves, a bit mushy, but rolling all through the cove. Got
it so good the day before at low tide that I decided to
try the same strategy again.
In the water a little later today, and so sore from yesterday's session! I'm flabby, out of shape, packing at least an extra 10 lbs off last year's winter season and there was already some extra padding anyway. Cruised on the paddle out and the paddle back after my waves and it still started burning way early. Indicator was the spot I picked, probably not the spot to be, as nearly every wave bowled and sectioned off at least 50 yards down the line in the rivermouth with virtually no chance of beating it. At least today the crowd was mellower with not a single drop-in on me. Lots of fun late drops on the second peak and played a little bit with the end section on the inside there, not a lot, I'm sore and out of shape. Last wave made it all the way down and just got around the whitewater of that section, big green wall starting to open up in front of me... and I bog it, just kinda slump forward and slide into the face of the wave off my front foot. Fun while it lasted. Glug. I'm done. Think I'll go home and eat a salad. | ||
