Comments:   Met Unkle along the PCH and a longboard would have been the equipment to have but I sold the Pig and still hadn't bought a new one so had to make do on the shortboard. Waves were small with ok shape, would have been fun on a longboard. A couple of fun ones but had to wait for the infrequent sets as the in-between waves were out of the question, just not enough juice.

We began by walking up the coast until the tide stopped us and paddled to a spot i've begun calling in my head "3 trees". Waves were small but fun there but soon we had drifted up coast into no man's land so we paddled even further up coast to a reef-point. Got some fun ones there and started drifting down to no man's land so we slowly caught waves back to the cars. The slight offshores and lack of consistent waves made me declare it the coldest session of my winter thus far.

Afterwards it was time to go find a new longboard with cash in hand from my Christmas bonus. Had done some recon missions in Goleta and Ventura and was going to settle for the cheapest board I could find, but since I was spending my companies money essentially I went for good quality. I had never bought a new board that wasn't shaped for me, so it was a new experience, yet the instant gratification was worth it. The board: a 9'0" Walden. Gave Steve a call and told him I wanted to come by, he rolled open his warehouse door, let me take my pick, and 15 minutes later he closed his door and had his sander going again. Cutting out the middle man was certianly worth the effort.
