Comments:   The 4th annual Thanksgiving morning session with Unkle and Steve. We arrived at 6:30 only to find about a half dozen folks in the water and enough people suiting up that it looked like it was 9:00. The wind was howling offshore and the sets looked fun and hollow. The lulls were long but the sets seemed to get towards head high. We paddled out and caught a few ones before realizing the wind was pushing us up the coast. For the first time in my life we were paddling south to stay in the lineup at this spot. The wind was so gusty that the waves were tough to get into and if you missed one you were punished with a good dose of rain down the backside. Once on it was a roller coaster ride of navigating thru crowds and over chop, all the while having a tough time seeing due to the spray in your face.

Since the pig has no leash it was the most crowds i have surfed in with this board. I managed to more or less keep control of it but i didn't pull into some waves when were there were bright eyed insiders praying that i wouldn't lose my 30lb board in front of them. Unkle was catching some good waves and he was perhaps the furthest west, probably because he didn't want to keep paddling to stay in the sweet spot. My last wave I caught outside and managed to stay on it until i hit sand. A great feeling for a great thanksgiving session once again.

A day like today made everyone surf a few levels below their normal ability. The wind and chop and current and spray meant that there weren't a ton of great rides to be seen, even by folks that normally would have a good ride. However there was one guy out there that was styling thru his waves as if there was no chaos in the sea. A bearded one with a soulful noseride and some great trimming ability, this guy managed to ride more waves and for longer then anyone else out there by a mile. I had never seen this guy in the water either, kind of had a Central Coast look going for him, but he owned it.
