The first month of reports since I, Pope, took over this page from Tim in April. If you look at the reports, Only 1 session in the first half of the month, and the other 10 session during the last 12 days. So, a pretty bad month to start but then we had two swells of decent size come in towards the end of the month.11 sessions total, 6 on the Long board and 5 on the short board. The "Back to School Swell" began on Sunday October 19th and the 21st was the first time at Coal Oil Point I couldn't look over the back of the waves and see my friends while riding them in many months. That swell provided fun waves from Sunday to Thursday, with each day getting progressively smaller. Friday and Saturday seemed flat.
A Halloween swell arrived on October 30th and was much smaller then predicted for SoCal. The northern areas just didn't seemed to be breaking but from Rincon south was very fun. The best session of the month, or so far for the season, was at Little Rincon amongst a sea of shredders on the 30th.
A big change for Pope's quiver. Got rid of the 6'6" single fin and purchased the Progressive 7'2" to ease himself back into the short boards after a long boarding summer. The 9'0" DanO was hacked apart one lazy day in the yard and now has a 2'x2' re-glassing job on the deck, making the True Ames fin more valuable then the board. Presently searching for a replacement.
