| Comments: | Weird day. Drove to Hammonds at 6:15a.m. to see nothing showing. Drove to Rincon and the indicator looked fun but not epic. Passed up on it and got to work early since it was only supposed to get better as the day progressed. Around 11:00 I looked at the C-street cam and saw a 6 wave set coming thru that looked awesome. Jetted over to Coal Oil Point to find it about head high on the sets with about 30 guys out and long lulls. Disapointed, i went back to work and planned an attack for the afternoon. Took off around 1:00 and checked the Gaviota Coast. Nothing seemed to be breaking very good but i didn't check everywhere. Dis-apointed again I headed straight for Litte Rincon and got in the water at 2:00. I hadn't been in this big of waves in a long, long time so i was sorta a kook out there. My first wave was a bit overhead and I made the drop and then just wiped out in front of the rocks. Had to fight my way back out during the rest of the set and then i took it a bit more careful. 2nd wave i took was my biggest of the day and i was just kooky and out of control and spun out. Trying to get used to the new shortboard was tough. After that I stuck to mostly head high waves in the cove and let guys that had the place wired dominate the set waves, which came about every 15 minutes and were well overhead. Trust me. Took some still shots on my 35mm afterwards so on Monday when I get the PhotoCD back we'll see if it was a big as i claim. | ||
