Comments:
I had to drop off the K-dog at the Airbus at 6:00 so I figured I'd hunt for waves down south afterwards. Pulling into Rincon it looked small and dismal so I continued south. Didn't look much better down there but I didn't head all the way to C-Street. I figured Rincon it was. It looked a lot better up towards the Creek so I walked along the rocks way up there. Of course once up towards the Creek I realized it was no better there, but the indicator looked good. But I wasn't into continuing on foot. So I paddled out near the Creek and caught waves all the way back into the cove.
The cove ended up being the best place to be. By the time I got down there, there were 3 or 4 other folks out and the waves were still small, but they were long. I caught a couple of really long knee high waves, one eye on the rocks below and one eye the footwork. There was a slight breeze and the water was a bit choppy already. The sun never really rose because as soon as it was about to pop over the hill, some fog rolled in and so we never really got a sunrise.
While I was out near the creek, a pod of dolphins joined me during a set. I had not seen any dolphins my whole 10 minutes out there but as soon as a set came, about 3 dolphins popped up and started trading waves. Two were on the same wave heading for me while the third was paddling out for the next one. They were pretty playfull for being so early in the morning, saw a couple of jumps and kicks, and of course they made riding the waves look really gracefull. As soon as the set was gone, they disappeared.
