Comments:
After days and weeks of trying to surf up in Goleta I'm finally rewarded with something to surf. The wind had resided a bit and it hadn't rained in a few days, so the water wasn't as mushy and ugly as it had been this week. The waves didn't look epic but it was worth a shot. The water was cold but warmer then I expected, and it was also cleaner then i thought it would be. Surfed with a ripster that i've seen out there all the time on a yellow board. He is an amazing animal.
Caught a handfull of fun lefts and rights that had some decent power. My best wave of the day was a shoulder high or so right that didn't close out and allowed me to get some nice rythm down the line. Caught a couple of screaming lefts too and dunked my head in the lip a few times. Felt like on of my more successfull shortboarding sessions in awhile, perhaps the best one of all of April and March. The waves had better shape then usual, not quite closing out like usual and allowing a few longer rides if you knew how give and take the power. I didn't so I typically straight legged it along, but the other guy out there had some serious knowledge of how to harness the wave and kept going and going. Excellent.
Nothing like a fun lunch time session to break up the work day.
