Comments:
For the first time in weeks the swell model was showing something other than dark blue up here in Goleta. It looked like some short period windswell was whipping things up, but I really had no faith there was anything out there. I drove to check it anyway and lo and behold there is about 30 guys in the water and ok waves. The last time I had checked for waves in Goleta was several weeks ago, could have been like this all along, a little microcosim of waves up here even though my trips down south have been flat? Probably not, but it felt like that. Most everyone was trunking it, a lot of longboarding, and in general just a whole great beach feeling for an after work session.

I threw on my trunks and my rash gaurd and was praying that I didn't get some severe nipple rash like the last time I tried to trunk it, which was over a month ago. Brought the leash cause I really didn't want to decapitate any kids playing on the inside. Once in the water it truly was warm. I probably could have foresaken the rash guard, but the sun would be going down soon, and who knew if wind would accompany that occurence.

The vibe out was great, everyone was stoked by the warm water and the surprise waves. Shredders were smacking lips and get airs, and Longboarders were getting to the nose. It quite honestly was like a little surfers Oasis in the middle of a really flat summer void of any Hurricane swells. I managed to catch a ton of waves and get some great rides. Mostly rights that would pop up quickly that would suck up down the line and carry you all the way to shore. The tide was high and they were breaking really close in, so you'd end up in knee high water if you rode them all the way out. A few barrels here in and there, but I never could squeeze in nor did I see anyone else. A whole lotta style out there today, just a lotta good surfers.

The sunset was spectatcular, orange and red and pink. The waves seemed to quite down after that so I went in. My best surfing in over a month.
