Comments:
Headed out to G-town during lunch with K-dog. She was going to do some reading on Depression to prepare herself for grad school and I was going to surf for a few minutes if there was anything rideable. Once there the waves looked ridable and K-dog was bummed she didn't bring her LB, or even better the old boogieboard. The water was filled with boogie boarding kids, and it was perhaps the most perfect wave riding vehicle for the day. Today I was fulling committed to trunking it without any rashguard so I made sure to don my SPF 25 on my back.
Once out into the "lineup" with my 11 year old boogie boarding friends I was poised to catch as many waves in my short lunchtime window as I could. I was going left, I was going right, but I wasn't going for very long. The waves all closed out pretty quick and I was stuck trying to get my head under a lip and wasn't showing off my shortboarding skills for K-dog as much as I'd have liked to. There was a skimboarding shredder on the inside, as well as Doyle shredders on either side of me, and I was the entirely invading there summertime exisistence.
There ended up being some high school girl on a longboard who was owning it the most. She was taking off on everything and not letting any of the sections knock her down. She was yelling to her little brother that he was paddling like a kook, and basicly policing the lineup. Nice work.
Back at the beach, there were so many people that I almost couldn't find K-dog. This little haunt that I've hit up all winter and only seen a few faithful souls now was wall to wall with people cooling off from our 80 degree weather. Everybody seemed friendly, and the family atmosphere continued to abound. Another super (albeit short) day at the beach.
