Comments:
Pope the solo surfer continues his tear of surfing with others by heading out to Sands with Rio for a glass off. Rio had surfed 4 days in a row there and was telling me the waves were fine. I was getting jealous since I had been driving to Ventura to surf in knee high rollers whilest here up at home was some peaky fun. We rolled down Storke, suited up and headed out. Rio on the LB, and me on my big boat of a shortboard.

Once we turned the corner and saw a lip feathering over and a guy hunched over trying to get slotted I was tottally stoked. Offshore? It was way crowded and Rio was way outside on his big log while I tried to pick off ones a little closer in. Rio was catching a lot out there and getting some mighty find rights. When I did end out near him we were able to split the peaks nicely since he doesn't go left.

I caught a ton of fast and fun rights, some of the longest waves I've ever had at Sands. The drops were quick and fast and then it'd die off a bit and then suck up on the inside. I tried to tuck into a few barrels and managed to get some head dips but nothing major. My best opportunity was later in the session as the tide was dropping and the section in front of me started to suck up. I was all ready for some slotted time when I saw these giant boils start appearing in front of me. That is when I pulled out in lieu of getting slammed into some rocks in the low tide.

Total loser guy out there was playing games with people. Instead of splitting peaks nicely he'd force you to the right as if he was going right, then when you'd pull out to let him have it, he swing left and go that way. What a punk. Did this to me once and I got as far away from him as I could. Saw him continuely ruin perfectly good peaks this way. Loser.

The peaks started to back off and my arms were noodles so we headed in right before the sun was going down. Nice evening of surfing.
