| Comments: | Tried with many attempts to surf last week but the waves just were not right when I was checking and then other stuff came up so it's the first time in a week to hit the water. I keep on my theme of February of surfing Rincon and am rewarded again. Still unclear if it is worth the hassle of the crowds but that is one mighty fine wave, I tell you what. Suited up and headed out without checking it since the sun was going down. Was surprised to see a head high set of wave after wave breaking as I scampered up the cove. That was not to be the norm, as the lull in between these sets was long enough to require foraging for much smaller knee to waist high waves. However, when the sets did come they were head high and fast, with many fun sections upon which to find fun things to do. Sadly, I was not one of the ripsters to be pulling into set wave after set wave. Nay, I only realed in 1 or 2 waves that was bigger then waist high, but Rincon has the ability to be a very fun wave even on the smaller stuff. Today was strange, perhaps it was tide, but as the wave hit different portions of the point it would really suck up and more than once I found myself performing faceplants into the 3' of water in a nanosecond. Good times. It got cold quick. This winter has been real warm in air and water and I've been toasty all along, but once that sun went down and a bit of breeze cruised thru, it brought a bit of chill to the old bones. After all the pro surfers were in town yesterday for the surf flick, I figured Rincon would be a zoo from some of those cats, along with surfers driving in from out of town to see the movie. Perhaps that was the case, but not apparent to my untrained eye. | ||
