Santa Barbara Surf Report Archive
February2003 Overview

After a great December and a great January, February was a very big let down. I don't believe there was a single day that was entirely epic. I think head high was the biggest surf I was in all month, although I was out of town a bit and could of missed some swell. We had a bit of weather, but not too much. A few rainy days and a lot windy days. Early in the month the Pacific Storm track was just on hold and giving us no good swells. Finally it seems the storms started to come in, but typically bringing medicore waves and heavy weather along with them.

February was going to be my month of Rincon. But I only surfed there 3 days. All three were fun days, but I soon lost track of my goals. It was simply easier to surf up North and get some work done instead of hunting all around for waves. February also saw the Rincon Classic take place in pretty good conditions and dozens of pro surfers in town for the screening of Dana Brown's new film, "Step Into Liquid".

Of the 10 days out I had 7 days on the shortboard and 3 on the longboard.
