| Comments: | A longboard session with Greggory. Left my house at 6:10 and it was howling wind. Still, I had to go. We got to Leadbetter and looked at it for awhile and then just went for it. It was nuts. Super offshore wind, probably 30knots or so, was just whipping every wave to heck. Rain would pour down after the wave broke for seconds, and get swept back a dozen yards. We started outside but the sets were shifty and the cross-chop was big. My quote was that there was 5' waves out of the West and 1' waves out of the SouthEast. It was nuts. Soon a few others came out. It must have been our absolute shredding of these big, white frothy things that pumped them up. Some only lasted 20 minutes before cutting their losses. Us, we were in it to win it. Greggory's quote was that it was one if his worst surfing sessions in recent memories. The wind and the chop just made every surfer suck. Two other guys out there could catch waves, and they both rode on their bellies for a good 10 seconds before standing up. I thought it was some new revolution. One guy caught something that must have been about head high to a little overhead from way outside the point. He made the drop on his belly and then just held on. He came about 100 yards on his belly and right as he got to us he stood up. Then he fell down right as he passed Greggory. After a few more stunts like that we packed out bags and headed for coffee. It was tough to put the boards on the car in wind like that. | ||
