Comments:
In town for Bill's 60th Birthday and the weather could not have been better. A nice cool fog in the mornings and then sunny in the day, with just a slight breeze. Not the hellish wind that has plauged Pismo for months. Bill, K-dog, and Mike and already been out owning the Pier the day before. Mike in his black and orange "Halloween Especial" Rip Curl and borrowing the day-glo body board. Owning it.

I shorted it, Mike longed it, K-dog and Bill tested out the new equipment from "the boogie board factory." Pismo was in true form with a nice 8 second period. The trick was to walk out as far as you could and then give about a 50% paddle effort until a lull came, and then charge at 100% to get outside. If you charged too hard when there wasn't a lull you would end up too tired by the time the lull came. Mike was getting brutalized on the longboard. Swallowing water and taking hit after hit after hit. He hung in there tough for a Colorado boy though and managed to get up on this, his 2nd time surfing.

Once outside you wanted to make sure you caught a good wave, cause you knew it was going to be tough getting back out. I think I only caught 4 or 5 waves of size. My best was a left that was about chest high that I managed to work a few turns into and hit the lip for a little semi-floater. At least that's what it felt like. Soon we were all beat and headed in for an Avila adventure that ended up aborted because of all the crowds from the inland folk beating the heat. It must have been 100 degrees inland.
