Comments:
Justin continues to push me to wire the 6'2" so I take it out to the Pit. Me and a bunch of ripster kids and a few longboarders. Good vibe, even though I'm the kook who seldom surfs here and is floundering on a board that will barely float me. It looks pathetic on first glance but the weather is so great I go for it. Spring suit and leashless, it actually feels like summer. Kids are ripping it up left and right. I like surfing with the little high school punks because they rip and they are funny. Of the whole session I only had 3 waves that would be considered a sucess. The rest were getting up too late, or trying in vain to control my board. The 3 waves were great though. One was a right where I actually got up on time and made it down the line, and hit the lip a time or two before the wave closed out in 1' of water. My 2nd best wave was a short left where a barrell was coming straight for me from up the coast. I grabbed my rail and tucked it in and felt the vacuum. Such a wuss I closed my eyes at the last second, but it was a great feeling. I hooted as I popped up. The kids were confused. "What could that kook possibly be hooting about?" must have run through their heads.
The 3rd wave was the biggest, and it was my last. A waist high+ left that sucked up and I just went with it. I didn't do anything on it, but I went with it. It brought me to the sand and it was time to get a move on to meet some folks for dinner at the Chase. Writing this a day later, after having surfed Sands too, I have 1 thought: college kids suck to surf with. high school kids rule to surf with.
