Comments:
Thank god Bill woke me up to go surfing because I wasn't about to get up myself. He even had coffee ready and our spot chose out. We headed out to North of the Pier. Hanging out in the parking lot were a bunch of old timer long boarders just like at Rincon and C-Street. It was pretty small so I think they were choosing coffee and fish-tales over surfing. After some coffee induced bathroom breaks we were out there having a swell time. Bill tried the Walden because he is in the market for a new board and wanted to see if a 2 3/4" thick LongBoard would treat him right. It seemed to because he was catching waves left and right and making impossibly late drop ins. Thats the power of the Magic Model.
I hadn't longboarded in several weeks so I was doing the usual falling off cause I thought I was on a shortboard, but once the body re-adjusted it was a fun time of trying to get to the nose on the Stewert. It never happened, but the 50/50 rails the whole way down on that board made it really fun for slipping and sliding down the line. Bill and I traded waves for a good long time at our own little peak. Without a doubt Bill caught the finest wave of the day between the two of us, it must have been at least thigh high. There were tons of those dead by the wind sailor jellyfish and also a lot of dead crabs. Wadding out into the lineup stepping on dead crabs without booties is a fun little experience. Especially since the beach at Pismo slopes so slightly that you have to walk a mile just to get in waist deep water.
After that we stopped by Bill's friend house. He just bought a new house where 2 years ago there was a Pig Farm. The new housing development has some god awful name like "La Serena" or something, but we decided we will call it "Pig Farm", or for the Developers out there, "Granja Del Cerdo". Bill's friend forced us to roll his refrigerator down the steep ramp of his U-haul whilest our footwear was flip flops. Good times.
