Comments:
The buoys were looking sweet from the south swell. Some internet browsing also showed that it was going off way down south in OC. The goal was to drive to Ventura but work delayed that, so the call was a quick jump in at sands. Whilest it was probably head high and hours south or so, it was waist high at best up here in Goleta.
There were quite a few folks out at sands. Quite a few women shortboarders, more than I had ever seen grouped together outside of Rincon. There was also quite a bit of floundering going on out there, so although it was crowded, it was possible to get quite a few waves.
It was pretty small in between sets. Caught some thigh high rights and quite a few lefts that seemed to hold up better. The sets were probably waist high, but closing out quite a bit. I'd try to catch them anyway, although the rides were short, just to get a little bit of a rush. The vibe out at sands was ok, actually my last few sessions out there have seen some pretty mellow vibes. Maybe I've been too hard on Sands in previous posts.
Water still really warm, it felt really great. Hard to remember what winter was like now, with big waves and cold water.
