Comments:
Another suited up long walk down to Sands hoping something was around the corner. Indeed there was, in the form of about a zillion surfers. It was a zoo, perhaps one of the most crowded sessions I've ever had out at Sands. The waves looked small, like monday, but the form was lot better. Once out I simply tried to find the least crowded spot, and of course at first that was in front of the rocks to the right of the main peak. The water was glassy and warm, and it was a great evening. The tar is back, on the beach and in the water. The water is just pure filth right now, with all the tar and oil and random crud.
Should of brought the longboard was my rally cry for the day. Found a peak with all shortboarders just to increase my chances of catchign something good. Got a few good waves, some pumping and some rail grabbing in search of barrells near the rocks. Soon I found myself the only shortboarder in a group of longboarders. No hope for me of catching anything.
It was a beautiful sunset, orange and pink, and right after the sun went down the moon began to rise 180 degrees off. Full moon not officially until tommorrow but it was plenty full. The water got even more smooth and quiet, where every stroke you took you could hear in stereo. I was ready to go in but then the last 15 minutes I actually started to catch some consistenet waves. A combination of the thinning crowds and some good timing with a few macker sets that came in, perhaps 2 waves were head high. Perhaps. Took a chest high one to the left and got slammed on the paddle back out by it's big brother.
A fun session, but too crowded to be worth it. Tommorrow it's either the longboard or somewhere else.
