Comments:
Word was something was due in today. The day before the SF area was reporting DOH conditions but the buoys didn't seem as positive as I would have thought. Unkle, Steve and I met along the PCH and it looked very flat. We headed out anyway, and were the first cats out at our little spot. Once out we realized the waves were much better then we had thought, peeling waist high ones as we were paddeling out. As usual, Unkle stayed way outside looking for the one perfect wave while Steve and I kept going for any and everything we could.
About the same time the sun rose over the hills we hit a huge lull. A kayaker sat on top of us, and two other longboarders were further up. A few fun waves came in, but the tap got turned off. We sent Steve on a recon mission up the coast a bit, between us and the the guys up top. He caught what appeared to be a fun one so Unkle and I headed up there. For the next half an hour, we had a tremendous assembly line of waves. The 3 of us and the two longboarder dudes were trading waves with no stopping to rest, and they seemed to be getting bigger. A few head high ones came in way outside, and one guy was especially good at being in the right place to get those, and style in the pocket.
After that marathon half hour we were pretty tired and we saw an onslaught of people heading out, so we surfed back to the car. Millions of runners and walkers on the PCH today.
