Comments:
Headed out to Deveraux to meet Bill and K-dog for an old fashioned longboarding session at one of our favorite lunchtime surf spots. I believe this to be my first session at Deveraux since January 15th of this year. I have been hitting up Sands, but not Deveraux. So, it was good to be back on a longboard at Deveraux. They were already out in the water when I pulled up so I suited up and jammed up the coast. There were a few souls up near the point, but K-dog and Bill were down in front of the block house. I paddled out just in time to see them both get very nice waist high long rides all the way down. I did some hooting and hollering as the cut on my hand was getting aggravated by all the sea grass.
The waves were super clean and glassy and clear. You could see little fish swimming around in the water, and you could see the bottom. We traded a lot of waves, it was fairly consistent and very fun. Some of the sets reminded me of winter in Santa Barbara. Shortly, K-dog had to get going to work, so it was Bill and I. The wind came up a bit, making a slight chop on the water on the outside. However, when you caught one into the inside, it was still glassy and clean, and the water was warmer. Couldn't quite figure that one out, but if you were outside your mood was a little less jovial then when you were inside in glassy warm water.
Bill and I caught the same wave in as far as we can. I consider this my opening day of Deveraux for the winter.
