Best Surfs of 1999
by John Webster
Beginning when I moved to Rhode Island in June of this year, and partly spurred by someone's post here, I started logging every surf session of mine in my desktop calendar. I've surfed 1 - 4 times per week for the last six months. Everything from overhead to one foot. (I've gone the longest w-out surfing the last two weeks, it's been flat and/or I've been in VT and/or sick.) If I go back through my calendar, I can pick out the best surfs.
  1. Day after the big day I shot my photos (11/4/99). Overhead sets, long lefts at the Aves.

  2. Chest-high, clear glassy hollow waves at TB on 11/15/99. I remember surfing and looking at the wave, backlit a translucent green/white, at 8am. Unreal sight.

  3. One night (9/24/99) under a rising almost full moon, 4pm - 7pm. Got covered up!
