Rincon is widely regarded as strictly a winter break. Sometimes, however, it can be fun even in the depths of summer.
My husband and I love to surf Rincon. We are in the "older crowd" -- in our 40's. My husband has surfed since he was 14, while I started surfing only 4 short years ago.Our story goes like this. It was July 1994. "C" Street was windy and flat so we took a drive up to Rincon, just for the heck of it, because it does not normally break in July. Well, it's 9 am, not one person in the water and there are 2-3 foot Rincon waves. We put on our shorties and went out for the best session we've ever had at there. The weather and water were warm and best of all, just two of us in the water for almost 2 hours!!
Unbelievable!! We both caught so many waves, we finally couldn't paddle any more. The next day was exactly the same, except there 3 other people in the water with us. Swear, you would have thought God put the wave machine at Rincon for those two mornings, just for us. We have never seen it like that since. We'll never forget Rincon in July of 1994.
