Well, Junk only wanted me to surf with the thing and I was going anyway. Bit of a new S. showed up today which made for some morning barrels. Couldn't use the 2000 because Junk's little device needed that head port. It was really weird surfing without it. My timing on every move was way off, the wave was just way faster than I've been used to. I felt like a kook.Junk bought me dinner tonight which was really good since I didn't score a single gull surfing without the 2000. He also downloaded the data off my head. No real memory loss this time though. So we got to talking , and I told him how we all thought the eco's were behind the attacks.
"Who's we, and why?" he asked.Microdis! The giant entertainment conglomerate. Rumor has it that it's still run by the ghost of Bill, "The Sandman" they call him, have no idea why. Something about silicon I guess. Anyway, Junk gave me some good credits for the data and asked if I'd do it again tomorrow. The swell looked solid enough to hold another day, so I figured hell, some credits for surfing without the 2000, why not? Then as we were leaving Junk "casually" mentioned,"We's us surfers, and dudes like Zip and the spongeheads."
"They're all on Th32 though aren't they?"
"Yea...but it makes sense on green and 'ball too."
(And it did, so it's not just the drugs, at least I think that's what I was thinking.)"It doesn't make sense and I'll tell you why, Rat. Simply put, the eco's don't have the technology, that's all. Have you thought how come all of a sudden there's a Whitey that's not staying away from repellers?"I hadn't."Cuz it's been genetically altered, that's why. And the eco's just don't have the tech or funds to do that. I'm pretty sure it's Microdis, and I have some ideas why they'd wan't to do it, but I can't say anything for sure.""By the way, Rat, you know too much thrust can burn out your port drivers."He didn't need to remind me, I knew that well enough. A lot of spongers starvin', they can't download anymore. They sell memory of good rides for a living, and with this Th32 craze they were having to find a living elsewhere. There does seem to be more of a market for sponger vids than surfer ones, I guess that's why few surfers do it. Or maybe surfers just make funds other ways. I don't know if I'd want to sell my good rides.I hope this swell holds, should've asked Junk he'd be sure to know. Be nice if the wind stayed down too if I'm gonna be surfin' those country reefs, they blow out so early.
