All told we had 60 reports filed, with the best reported surf landing on the West Coast, just about anywhere to the north of Point Conception where waves pushed to double overhead and beyond. Elsewhere surf was moderate (UK) to weak (SoCal, Hawaii) to utterly flat (parts of the East Coast). Enough of that. On to the awards, in no particular order... the winners/reporters/reports of note are... Biggest Surf Reported: Richard Schmidt, reporting Hawaiian 10 feet at Steamer Lane Most Stoked Reporter: Gadget, for logging 6 1/2 hours water time and being so amped. Most Detailed Reports / Biggest Name-Dropper: Tom Tweed, for his surch essays and inside information that could very well land him a spot working for tabloids. Most Questionable Eating Habits: Tie between Scott "Rebecca's Muffins" Gould, and John "chess pie" Rowell. Most Sumptuous Meal: Fang (who else?), Hog Island oysters and Lagunitas Red ale Biggest Self-Pimper: The Sandman, for demanding that I visit his web site to get the conditions/swell/surf details. Surf Pirate Travel Award / Most Bitter: Tim', 650 miles surched, scoring good waves, yet full-on fuming about the Santa Cruz crowds. Surf Skunked: SurffOhio, who after being cajoled and ribbed by me into going on time after begging for "World Surf Week," sent me one small email saying it was flat (no report filed). Feel free to come up with more. Hope the reports were worth the wait!
